Global and domestic ranking of IIT Bombay in last five years
Since the last 5 years, IIT Bombay has been ranked third in the engineering category of National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) published by the ‘Ministry of Education’ of government of India.
The Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay (IIT-Bombay) is one of India’s premier institutions for engineering and technology education. It is one of the most popular choices among IIT aspirants and this year too, during the first round of JoSAA counselling, it emerged as the top choice for top rankers.
Since the last 5 years, it has been ranked third in the engineering category of National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF), published by the ‘Ministry of Education’ of government of India.
Not only in the field of engineering, research and technology education, IIT-B is also a leading institution in the field of management and innovation. IIT Bombay’s global ranking is also extraordinary in comparison to the other IITs and institutions in the country.
IIT Bombay recently achieved a remarkable feat by breaking into the top 150 list in QS World Ranking 2024. It became the first institution to do that in the last 8 years.
Along with five other IITs ( IIT Delhi, IIT Kanpur, IIT Madras, IIT Roorkee and IIT Kharagpur), IIT Bombay had boycotted ‘THE World University Rankings‘ due to issue involved with the transparency of ranking parameters.
IIT-Bombay was established in 1958. It was the first institution in the country to be set up with foreign assistance. The varsity got its recognition in 1961, when the parliament declared the IITs as ‘Institutes of National Importance’.
